Party Games You Can Play With Just a Phone

You do not need a board, cards or a box of props. Here are seven party games that start the moment someone takes out a phone, ordered from the easiest to explain to the most chaotic.

1. Forehead guessing (heads up)

One player holds the phone on their forehead showing a word, the group gives clues, the player guesses. It is the fastest game to teach and it works with any group size.

2. Charades with a timer

Classic silent acting. Use a phone timer, 60 seconds per turn, and take the words from a generator so nobody has to write slips of paper.

3. Team battles

Split into two to four teams, take one round each and keep a running score. Add a final round with only hard words for a dramatic finish.

4. One-word clues

Same as heads up, but clue-givers may say only one word per clue. It forces creative thinking and makes everyone laugh.

5. Movie-only round

Pick a deck of films everyone knows. Acting out a title with the movie signal (crank a camera) is a charades classic.

6. Accent round

Clue-givers must talk in a funny accent chosen by the group. Guessing gets slower and the room gets louder.

7. Film and replay

Record each round with the front camera and replay the best moments at the end of the night.

Which one first?

Start with forehead guessing, because the rules fit in one sentence. When people are warmed up, move to team battles.
